gymnastics...

ok, i love watching gymnastics. i always have. i think it is so fun to watch and i am amazed at how good these girls are. my dad won a trip to the 1992 olympics. at first i begged him to take me with him. my mom hates to fly and isn't really a world traveler. i thought i had the ticket, but then my mom decided she would go, that it would be a fun trip for them. (eyes rolling) that would have been a great year to see the girls gymnastics. my vote was for kim zmeskal that year, but shannen miller ended up being the best american. i was so mad when svetlana khorkina won the all around after the two of them performed the same vault. shannen was WAY better and totally deserved to win. (by the way this is all on memory, no googling here) i taped all the gymnastics and watched that vault over and over, i was so bummed. then i was a fan of dominique moceano, but she kind of let us down in the next olympics. but that was the year of keri strug, the one that talked like minnie mouse, the infamous vault on one foot to win gold for the girls. i even went to see the girls one night perform on their little tour after the olympics. unfortunately i dont have alot of memories of the 2004 olympics. that was when makenzie was just 4 months old and we were getting ready to move out to california.

ok, now i'm getting really annoyed with this years results. so happy for nastia winning the gold, but i was annoyed from the beginning with the scoring. so sad that there is no perfect 10 to go by anymore. i think shawn got robbed on floor last night and i think alicia got totally robbed on the vault. anyone who lands on their knees on the second vault should not medal! have you seen bela karoli talk after the events, i'm in total aggreement with him. ok, then tonight! nastia and chinese girl tie on the bars and then in some dumb tie breaker rule nastia takes silver. so lame!! the dumb judges, ugh.



and lastly, what is with the hair clips these girls use. this russian girl tonight had seriously 15 that i could see. does that help them flip faster like a swim cap helps the swimmers? i don't get it. seriously, i dont really think their hair is going to move! at least the US girls use their hair color clips so you dont see them so much. but 15 white clips one after another is a little much! i'm certainly not letting makenzie do that to her hair in the 2020 olympics. :)

i'm sure i spelled all of their names wrong, i just don't feel like looking them all up...
