bobby has been like a sibling to makenzie. forever he is the one she cares the most about of all her stuffed animals and things. she talks to him as if he can hear her. she doesn't do it quite as much now but she still talks to him alot. she's always excited to tell him things and show him things. it's really cute.
as time when on and the love for bobby grew i knew it was important that i had more than one on hand. it is made by gund, but it is the 2004 version of the "my first puppy" and it doesn't look the same anymore. my mom found a few more at the store near her. and then i ended up buying a few off of ebay and then michael's cousin, sara, ended up finding another just last year. it's a good thing because we have lost a few. we lost one at the dmv, one at the grocery store and one at a shopping center. the time we lost it at the shopping center she was older and was devastated. after searching i convinced her that we had lost it but that the store would mail him back to us. she was so relieved. knowing i had another one at home that trick worked. she still talks about when he got mailed back to her.
she doesn't know we have more than one bobby. she knows she had a pink one when she was a baby but that's all. one time when she was about 2 i was holding her and she said she wanted bobby. so i walked over to the couch and handed her bobby. we walked back into the kitchen and she saw in her diaper bag the other bobby! her world collided! the look on her face was priceless, she kept saying, there is two bobbys!! luckily she was young enough to put one away and it was out of sight, out of mind. i kind of can't believe it has never happened again.
the other day bobby got dirty and she wanted him to be clean. so i said i would wash him and bring him to her in bed when he was dry. well, i forgot about the laundry and when i went to check on her before going to sleep she woke up and said, i need bobby! i had 2 that i was interchanging but they were both dirty and being washed and were still wet. so i went and got out the bag of bobbys that i have. i grabbed another one that i thought looked about the same as the others. i took it to her and in the dark, with only the light of a night light, she looked at him and laughed. i said what? and she said, bobby looks funny and different. oh my gosh!! crazy girl some how could tell that! i thought it was so funny and the idea of this blog came to mind.
right now we have 7 bobbys. hahahaha! 3 look about the same, the one she's using right now. 2 of them pretty haggard, and 2 of them are new.

here are the three that look about the same. one of these was the one from the other night that she could tell he was different.

look at the brand new one, isn't he the cutest!!!

here is a new one next the the worst one. this is one we had for several months and didn't have one to trade it with. isn't it amazing how worn he gets!

so, that is the story of makenzie's best friend. hopefully she won't see this post!! :) it will be funny to tell her someday of all the bobbys she had.

Love it. They are hard to find as I have kept my eye out just in case and I have never found another pink one.
It is sweet to have a stuffed friend you can count on. I had a doll when I was little. She was a rare breed and my parents switched her out on me once for Christmas. They get dirty and scruffy after so much love. They could never find another one so the doll went with me until I grew out of it.
Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully she will know her mom loved her enough to keep Bobby around for her. :)

p.s. The one I found last year was at Ross for Less. It was a rare find. :)

I love the picture of all of the bobbys. So funny. :)
That is so cute. You'll have to show her this post someday. But not now... no more worlds colliding ;) You're a good mommy!

I can't believe she could tell in the dark that he looked different. But, I guess you'd be able to tell if she showed up in your room in the middle of the night and looked different, and after all, he is her baby :)
Oh my gosh I LOVE this post. Bobby lives on!!! It was so great to see you this weekend, can't wait to REALLY catch up!
